The National Skills conference and Awards for 2017 was convened by the National Skills Authority (NSA) in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education and Training under the leadership of Dr Blade Nzimande. Mr Loko, Ms Present, Ms Jack, and Mr Plaatjies represented PKSDM at the “Skills development for an integrated and differentiated Post-School Education and Training system “past, present and future themed conference and award ceremony. On 23rd of March 2017 PKSDM received the Gold Award at St Georges Hotel in Pretoria, Irene for the category; Best Public Service Sector Internship and Learnership Programme in the country. This award recognises the institutions contribution to providing graduates and TVET learners with work exposure and skills development in their respective fields. The objective of the NSA is to develop capacity of skills development stakeholders and systems, it commissions and initiates research, development and innovation to promote beneficiation enterprise development opportunities. NSA supports post school education and training to realize national priorities. It was attended by stakeholders in the post-school education and training sphere and the key note address was delivered by Honourable Deputy President Mr Cyril Ramaphosa. This conference is a national event that brings together key players within industry, SETA’s, Labour, Education and Training Providers , Community Organisations, Government Departments responsible for Human Resource Development and other strategic agencies and organisation such as South African Qualification Authority, the Council for Higher Education, Quality Council for Trades and Occupations, etc. Pixley ka Seme District Municipal manager said: “We are indeed honoured and grateful for this profound achievement and will remain committed to service delivery excellence and skills development”. This accomplishment is a clear demonstration that PKSDM values the development of its employees and is becoming a trendsetter in the local government industry.
